TIPTONVILLE – Last week, the leadership of Northwest Correctional Complex (NWCX) held a Beat the Heat Staff Appreciation event. With temperatures in the upper 90’s and heat indexes between 105-110, the members of the NWCX Training Department made refreshing sno-cones for the facility staff.

“Working in prisons is a 24/7, 365-day job. The great staff here at NWCX don’t get days off for inclement weather,” shared Warden Shawn Phillips. He goes on to add, “These treats are just a small token of our appreciation for the work that our staff does every day.”

When the weather is excessively hot, staff are offered additional breaks and hydration stations are placed throughout the compound.
