Recently Issued Certificates of Competency

To be issued a certificate of competency, a water or wastewater operator must meet specific education and experience requirements; and successfully complete a written exam. The 'Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Act' establishes certification of operators. The requirements for operator certification are found in the 'Rules Governing Water and Wastewater Operator Certification'. Tennessee’s environmental regulations require that water and wastewater treatment facilities have a certified operator in direct responsible charge. However, operators may become certified to increase their knowledge and skills in their field of work. The Water and Wastewater Operator Certification Board would like to recognize and support the efforts of these individuals to better protect the public health and waters of our state.
