NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam has issued an executive order suspending certain provisions affecting vehicles carrying emergency equipment, services or supplies to support the emergency relief efforts for the severe storms and tornadoes that crossed Tennessee on April 25, 2011.

"It's our priority to ensure that food, water and other emergency relief supplies can get to those in need as soon as possible," Haslam said. "This executive order will assist in that effort, specifically ensuring there are no disruptions to the delivery of these critical needs."

Haslam's Executive Order No. 4 allows permitted vehicles to carry loads in excess of otherwise lawful maximum weight, height, length and width limits for permitted vehicles carrying emergency equipment or supplies on behalf of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, Federal Emergency Management Agency or the emergency management agencies of any other state.

The order also suspends hours of service limitations on operators of commercial motor vehicles carrying fuel, food, water and other emergency supplies.
