Burial Caskets Manufacturer to Invest Nearly $7 Million, Create Approximately 35 New Jobs Over Three Years

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty today joined with Coffee County officials to announce the decision by Batesville Casket to expand its Manchester, Tenn. facility, located at 175 Monogard Drive. The company will invest nearly $7 million and create approximately 35 jobs during a three-year period.

“Focusing on existing Tennessee businesses is a priority in our Jobs4TN strategy,” Haslam said. “I appreciate Batesville’s growth and investment in our state as we work to make Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high quality jobs.”

“It is always a vote of confidence for our state when existing Tennessee businesses decide to expand at home,” Hagerty said. “Our department is continually working to create a business friendly environment that encourages companies to grow and invest in Tennessee.”

A subsidiary of Hillenbrand, Inc. (NYSE: HI), Batesville’s history of manufacturing excellence, product innovation, superior customer service and reliable delivery has helped it become the leader in the North American death care industry. Batesville’s innovation has changed the face of funeral service, from advancements in casket manufacturing and design, to profit-enhancing burial and cremation merchandising solutions, interactive technology offerings and innovative vault products, as well as comprehensive personalization and memorialization offerings.

“Batesville continues to be the leader in the production of burial caskets in North America by producing high-quality products that meet the needs of today’s funeral professionals and the families they serve,” Kim Dennis, president, Batesville, said. “Part of our success is having the flexibility to manufacture products in two locations – in Batesville, Ind., and Manchester, Tenn. The Manchester plant is important to our success, and we’re pleased that the state of Tennessee and the local government are partnering with us to expand our production capabilities here.”

“Batesville has been a valued member of our industrial community for 41 years,” Betty Superstein, Manchester mayor, said. “We were pleased with the announcement of expansion that will bring additional jobs and look forward to the next 41 years.”

“I want to thank the state of Tennessee, Batesville and our local industrial board for working together to make this happen,” David Pennington, Coffee County mayor, said. “This is a good example of creating jobs in the community by expanding existing industry.”

"Batesville is a long-time provider of quality jobs for the citizens of Coffee County,” William Comer, chairman, Industrial Board of Coffee County, said. “I am extremely pleased they are expanding operations at their Manchester plant."
