Haslam Announces Community Development Grants for Marshall County

LEWISBURG – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe announced today that Marshall County will receive a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) totaling $525,000 and a ThreeStar Competitive Grant totaling $5,000.

“I want to congratulate Marshall County on receiving CDBG funding and a ThreeStar Competitive Grant,” Haslam said. “These grants help communities across the state better prepare for future economic development opportunities and continued growth. With the assistance of these grants, not only will Marshall County continue to succeed in our state, Tennessee as a whole will continue to lead in economic growth and the creation of high quality jobs.”

“I am pleased to see Marshall County take the initiative not only to attract new business and encourage future growth, but also to create better living conditions for the families that reside there,” Rolfe said. “I look forward to seeing Marshall County continue to excel in our state.”

Marshall County’s CDBG funds will be used to construct water lines in various areas of the county and provide residents with reliable and safe drinking water. The ThreeStar Competitive Grant funds will be used for an evaluation of the Lillard’s Mill Dam in Marshall County.

The allocation of CDBG funds is based on priorities set through the public meeting process held each year with local representatives from across the state. The CDBG program is funded through HUD and administered in Tennessee by TNECD. Funding for the ThreeStar program comes through TNECD’s existing budget.
