MEDIA ADVISORY: Media Information Session On Zika Virus Disease Set for April 26

NASHVILLE- The Tennessee Department of Health will host an information session for media on Zika virus disease and other mosquito-borne health threats in Tennessee.  Following presentations by TDH staff, journalists will have an opportunity to ask questions from subject matter experts. 

WHEN: The information session will begin 10:00 a.m. central, Tuesday, April 26. Journalists unable to attend in person may participate by telephone; the toll free number is 866-678-2225. NOTE: Please do not provide this number to the general public; this call is for media only.

WHERE: The session will be in the Tennessee Military/TEMA complex, located at 3041 Sidco Drive, Nashville. Upon entering the complex, drive counter clockwise around the building to park on the rear side and use the TEMA entrance.

WHY: Tennessee’s mosquito season has started and many residents may not have adequate information about Zika and other mosquito-borne illnesses.  This session will provide journalists with information about what has been done to address Zika and other mosquito-borne illnesses in Tennessee, and provide information/guidance about what people can do to protect themselves, their families and their communities, as well as providing information on local and state actions in Tennessee.
