MEDIA ADVISORY: Information Session On Zika Virus Disease Set for May 19

NASHVILLE- The Tennessee Department of Health has rescheduled an information session for media on Zika virus disease and other mosquito-borne health threats in Tennessee.  Following presentations by TDH staff, journalists will have an opportunity to ask questions from subject matter experts.

WHEN: The information session will begin 1:30 p.m. central, Thursday, May 19. 

WHERE: The session will be in the Tennessee Military/TEMA complex, located at 3041 Sidco Drive, Nashville. 

WHO: Information and updates will be provided by:

TDH Commissioner John Dreyzehner, MD, MPH
TDH State Epidemiologist Tim Jones, MD
TDH Deputy Commissioner for Population Health Michael Warren MD, MPH

WHY: Tennessee’s mosquito season has started and many residents may not have adequate information about Zika and other mosquito-borne illnesses.  This session will provide journalists with information about what has been done to address Zika and other mosquito-borne illnesses in Tennessee, and provide information/guidance about what people can do to protect themselves, their families and their communities, as well as providing information on local and state actions in Tennessee.
