Anna is a seasoned government relations specialist, having spent more than 30 years at the Tennessee State Capitol advocating for business, industry and local governments. Her political career began during the re-election efforts for former United States Senator, Jim Sasser. Anna served on the campaign finance staff and later as an aide to the Senator on his U.S. Senate personal staff.

Her career moved to the Tennessee State Capitol when the Tennessee Building Material Dealers’ Association tapped her to lead as its CEO in the early 1980s. Her work for the Association centered on government relations at the state level. Within two years, the law firm of Bass Berry & Sims hired her to work with Senior Partner and former Tennessee Lieutenant Governor, Frank C. Gorrell, in the Government Relations arm of the Firm.

After a decade at Bass Berry & Sims, Anna created her own government relations practice, Anna Windrow & Associates. She continued to represent clients of the firm, such as Brown Foreman (Jack Daniel’s Whiskey) and American Express, while taking on new clients such as the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Government under the leadership of then-Mayor Phil Bredesen. After the gubernatorial election in 2002, Anna paused her government relations career to join newly elected Governor Bredesen as a Senior Advisor to the Governor. In this role, Anna served as the legislative face of major policy initiatives. 

In January of 2005, Anna left the Governor’s office to continue her career in government relations with clients, that included Air Evac, Bowater, Hewlett Packard, Glencore and Bank of America. Anna later collaborated with long-time political advisor, Bill Phillips, to create what is known today as the Windrow Phillips Group.
