Tuesday, August 29, 2023 | 08:17amNASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 12.50 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 8.50 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on August 28, 2023.

Tennessee Guardsmen responding to Louisiana wildfires

Warner Ross, announced today that two UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters from Knoxville’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion have departed this morning for Louisiana to support state, county, and local emergency responders battling the Tiger Island wildfire burning in Beauregard Parish, the largest wildfire in the state’s history.

Building Community, Continuing the Legacy: A Rosenwald Schools of Tennessee Symposium will take place September 15 at Fisk University and September 16 at the Tennessee State Museum. Presented in partnership by both the Tennessee State Museum and Fisk University, with support from the Tennessee State Museum Foundation and a grant from Humanities Tennessee, the event is offered in conjunction with the current Museum exhibition, Building a Bright Future: Black Communities and Rosenwald School in Tennessee, currently on view until February 25, 2024.

TDOT Announces No Lane Closures for Labor Day Holiday

Construction crews will stop all lane closure activity at noon on Friday, September 1, until 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5th. This will provide maximum roadway capacity for motorists traveling during the Labor Day holiday.
