NASHVILLE – The vast majority of counties in Tennessee experienced a decrease in their unemployment rates during July, according to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development (TDLWD). The lower county unemployment rates came during the same month Tennessee hit an all-time low statewide unemployment rate.
With Tennessee currently ranked among the top five states within the U.S. in recognition to the Project SEARCH graduation outcome, securing a 97% post-graduation employment rate with wages at a minimum of $12/hour and working an average of 26+ hours/week, the Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) Division of Rehabilitation Services today announced ongoing opportunities for employers and students to participate in the nationally acclaimed Project SEARCH model, which offers transition services to high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them into employment through hands-on training and internships. TDHS Rehabilitation Services is diligently working to increase the reach of Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) Services and connect more Tennesseans with disabilities to employment and educational opportunities by forging new community partnerships.
Volunteer Tennessee, Tennessee’s governor-appointed commission on volunteerism and service, is pleased to announce grant opportunities for Volunteer Centers and Youth Civic Engagement programs. Both opportunities will allow organizations to utilize community engagement and service to address critical needs throughout the state. Grant applications are due Monday, Sept. 25, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. CDT.

NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 12.50 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 8.50 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on August 21, 2023.
