Smyrna Business Owner Arrested for Tax Evasion, Theft, and Money Laundering
Tuesday, September 20, 2022 | 09:33amThe Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to the indictment and arrest of Scharneitha Britton, owner, of Kinfolks BBQ, in Smyrna. Revenue special agents arrested Britton, age 66, on Monday. Bond was set at $25,000.

Murfreesboro Restaurant Owner Pleads Guilty to Tax Charges
Friday, August 19, 2022 | 08:01amThe Special Investigations Section of the Tennessee Department of Revenue conducted the investigation that led to Carlos Flores Ramirez, owner of Carmen’s Taqueria, pleading guilty Thursday. Judge Barry Tidwell accepted Ramirez’ guilty plea to five counts of tax fraud and placed him on six years’ supervised probation. He also ordered Ramirez to pay $304,745.77 in restitution.

The Tennessee General Assembly approved two additional one-time holidays this year, in addition to the traditional sales tax holiday that takes place each year at the end of July. Revenue agents and officers from the Mt. Juliet Police Department arrested Amer, age 48, at his home. Bond was set at $50,000.

Revenue special agents arrested Packard, age 38, Tuesday, and bond was set at $45,000.
