NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Today, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced the appointment of Butch Eley as Deputy to the Governor. Eley will continue serving in his current role as Commissioner for the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration (F&A) and as a member of Gov. Lee’s cabinet. The position of Deputy Governor was previously held by Lang Wiseman who has returned to the private sector.

The Federal National Mortgage Association has discontinued its free market auction system for commitments to purchase conventional home mortgages. Therefore, the Commissioner of Financial Institutions hereby announces that the maximum effective rate of interest per annum for home loans as set by the General Assembly in 1987, Public Chapter 291, for the month of March, 2022 is 6.14 percent per annum. The rate as set by the said law is an amount equal to four percentage points above the index of market yields of long-term government bonds adjusted to a thirty (30) year maturity by the U. S. Department of the Treasury. For the most recent weekly average statistical data available preceding the date of this announcement, the calculated rate is 2.14 percent.
NASHVILLE--Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales announced today that the maximum effective formula rate of interest in Tennessee is 7.25 percent per annum. The rate is based on a ceiling of 4 percent over the weekly average prime loan rate of 3.25 percent as published by the Federal Reserve on February 7, 2022.

SMYRNA, Tenn. – More than 145 Soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 181st Field Artillery Regiment, returned home, Feb. 6, after a successful 10-month deployment to the Middle East. An additional 190 Soldiers from the 1-181st have already returned to Tennessee on Feb. 3, marking the deployment’s completion for the 335 members of the Chattanooga based unit.

NASHVILLE—Tennessee needs at least $61.9 billion worth of public infrastructure improvements during the five-year period of July 2020 to June 2025—a $3.4 billion (5.7%) increase from the year before—according to a new report by the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR). Of the $3.4 billion increase in infrastructure needs reported in this year’s inventory, just over $2.0 billion (60.2%) is attributable to increases in the estimated cost for Transportation and Utilities, followed by $978 million (29.4%) for increases in the cost of Education. Infrastructure needs for Transportation and Utilities increased for the sixth year in a row. Increases in the cost of road projects ($1.5 billion) and an increase in new road projects ($1.1 billion) attributed to the overall increase of transportation infrastructure, though these costs were offset by $521 million in completed road projects. Additionally, Nashville reports needing high capacity bus rapid transit at a cost of $506 million.
