Marketability Through Traceablity Focus of Beef Cattle Field Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Area agribusinesses and farm agencies are sponsoring a farm field day for beef cattle producers on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST at the Laman Farm in Alamo, Tennessee.  A free lunch will be provided to all attendees. 

The “Marketability through Traceability” farm field day will include information and presentations on the latest in cattle management and health issues.  Experts will be available to discuss the National Animal Identification System, electronic identification, state Ag Enhancement cost share opportunities, livestock marketing, age and source verification and other topics of interest to today’s cattle producer. 

Beef Quality Assurance training and preconditioning programs for beef calves will be held.  Demonstrations and displays will include the latest in cattle handling equipment, cattle dogs and a trade show featuring pharmaceutical and tag companies. 

The field day is sponsored by Laman Farms, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, the University of Tennessee Extension, the Tennessee Farmers Cooperative, Pfizer, Merial, Boehringer Ingelheim, Alflex, Digital Angel and YTex. 

Laman Farm is located at 1500 Emerson Road in Crockett County.  From Hwy. 221 (East Church Street) in Alamo, turn onto North Cherry Street (Emerson Road) and travel 1.5 miles.  Turn left at the top of the hill.  The farm is marked by two red barns.
