PolyOne DHCompounding Receives Two Workplace Safety Awards

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that PolyOne DHCompounding was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award and the SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) award for the second year.

“This time last year we were pleased to honor DHCompounding for working all of 2005 without a single recordable injury,” said Commissioner Neeley. “It is my pleasure to recognize the company for again meeting the safety award criteria for both the Governor’s Award and the SHARP safety award. These achievements obviously reflect their continued commitment to making workplace safety a top priority.”

Glen Adams, site manager of the facility said, “We place safety at the forefront of every activity at PolyOne DHC, and we take great pride in the fact that we have gone more than three years without having a fellow associate injured. To be recognized by the state of Tennessee with the SHARP and Governor’s awards is a great honor, and it is an acknowledgment of the personal leadership and commitment that it takes from all of our associates to make our company a safe place to work.“

The SHARP award, designed for smaller employers with fewer than 250 workers in high-hazard industrial classifications, is one of the state’s highest honors for workplace safety and health. The main incentive for participation in the SHARP award program is the desire by employers to promote a safe and healthy workplace. The program also allows employers to be removed from programmed compliance inspection lists for a period of 12 months.

The Governor’s Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours during a calendar year without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict his normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

PolyOne DHCompounding employs 95 people located in Clinton, Tennessee. The company is a specialized producer of compounds for the plastics industry.
