TDOC Awards Grant to Lung Assocation

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Department of Correction will award a grant in the amount of $10,000 to the American Lung Association of Tennessee.  The funds are to be used to assist the department in the Freedom from Smoking campaign in all TDOC prisons, the academy and central office.

 

 

“Recognizing how addictive tobacco use is, we want to make sure staff and inmates have the tools they need to kick the habit successfully,” said Commissioner George Little.  The ALA will assist in the implementation of a comprehensive smoking cessation program.  Commissioner Little will present a check to the American Lung Association of Tennessee this week.

All TDOC institutions and grounds are tobacco free.
