Tennessee Receives Award for Education Data

Nashville, TN – The U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics has recognized Tennessee with The Common Core of Data (CCD) Nonfiscal Team Award. The award recognizes timely and accurate collection of data vital to annual reporting and education research tracking education nationwide. Tennessee is cited as one of the most-improved submission states.

“Maintaining accurate and thorough data on education is a major priority for Tennessee,” Deputy Education Commissioner Tim Webb said. “It is important to be accountable, but the data is also vital to continually improving how we serve students.”

The CCD is the U.S. Department of Education’s primary database on public elementary and secondary education. The dual purpose of the CCD is to provide an official listing of K-12 public schools and descriptive statistics on public schools and education across the nation.
