Bush Hog Receives Workplace Safety Award

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development Commissioner James Neeley announced that Bush Hog in Telford, Tennessee, was chosen to receive the Governor’s Award for workplace safety.

The Governor’s Award honors Tennessee employers and employees who meet a required number of hours during a calendar year without workplace injuries serious enough to cause an employee to miss a day of work or restrict his normal job activities. The number of hours required is based on the size of the company.

“Bush Hog’s excellent safety record shows the company is strongly committed to workplace safety,” said John Winkler, Administrator for Tennessee OSHA, who presented the Governor’s Award to Bush Hog today at the company’s facility, located at 101 Bush Hog Boulevard in Telford. “The Governor’s Award has demanding evaluation criteria, and this company has worked hard to meet and exceed the standards the award requires.”

The facility has qualified for the Governor’s Award by working more than 1,000,000 man hours without a lost-time incident and 500,000 hours since the last restricted duty case.

Bush Hog manufactures backhoes and front-end loaders for tractors, employing 250 people.
