30th Annual Safety & Health Congress Next Week in Nashville

NASHVILLE - The 30th Annual Tennessee Safety & Health Congress will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center from Sunday, July 22, through Wednesday, July 25. Attendance at this year’s Congress is expected to exceed 1,800 safety and health professionals from across the state with approximately 140 exhibitors. Last minute and on-site registration is available to safety and health professionals.

“I am privileged to have been one of the founding fathers of the Tennessee Safety & Health Congress,” said Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Commissioner James Neeley. “It has truly been a rewarding experience to be part of an organization that has been able to achieve its goal of the last 30 years of helping prevent illness and injury and even save the lives of workers throughout Tennessee.”

The conference features safety experts leading more than 60 seminars and is designed for safety managers, supervisors, plant managers, safety committee members, industrial hygienists, human resource managers, risk managers, health care providers and employees.

Workshop topics include common health hazards, accident investigations, preventing back injuries, pandemic illnesses/epidemics, noise exposure and hearing loss prevention, PPE hazard inspection, and new this year, advanced safety track workshops. The Congress is co-sponsored by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health (TOSHA) Division of the state Department of Labor & Workforce Development and the Tennessee Chapters of the American Society of Safety Engineers.

“I am honored to have been a part of TOSHA and the Tennessee Safety and Health Congress for the past 26 years,” said TOSHA Administrator John Winkler. “Since my start here the Congress has grown tremendously. I believe the growth is a positive reflection of the TOSHA mission to prevent workplace illness and injury and to save lives. I want to thank the safety and health professionals who had the vision 30 years ago to organize and develop the Congress.”

The special Federal OSHA Training Institute’s approved “10-Hour General Industry Safety & Health Course” is again among the workshops offered at this year’s Congress. Participants in this course, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, are entitled to all other Congress functions.
