Greeneville, Tenn. – Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke will attend Tennessee State Parks Night at the Greeneville Astros minor league baseball home game on Thursday, August 2, 2007. In addition to information and exhibits about Tennessee State Parks, state parks night at the Astros game will feature information and applications for CoverKids, a health insurance program for Tennessee’s uninsured children.

“State Parks Night at our minor league baseball games is an excellent opportunity to share information with families about our parks and all they have to offer,” said Fyke. “At the same time, many families will be gearing up for back to school with the sales tax holiday beginning August 3, and we wanted to help get the word out that while families are enjoying the sales tax holiday, they also have an opportunity to get their kids signed up for health insurance through CoverKids.”

Tennessee State Parks offer a variety of recreational activities and overnight options, from hiking, fishing and swimming to golf, camping, cabins and resort inns. To learn more about what’s available at Tennessee State Parks visit the Web site at: www.tnstateparks.com.

CoverKids is hosting enrollment events across Tennessee, as well as working with the Department of Education to coordinate the delivery and distribution of one million program applications to Tennessee’s public schools.

A family of four with a $51,625 yearly income will qualify for CoverKids with no monthly premiums for coverage. Once enrolled, families will pay only $5-15 for doctor’s visits when their children are sick and as little as $5 for generic medications. Plus, they will not have co-pays for vaccinations, routine well-exams, labs or x-rays. Families above the income limit may “buy in” to the program.

In addition to CoverKids, Governor Bredesen’s Cover Tennessee initiative offers health insurance options to small businesses through Cover TN and to uninsurable adults with AccessTN. Cover Tennessee also provides pharmacy assistance to those without prescription drug coverage through CoverRX. More information on all Cover Tennessee programs is available at www.CoverTN.gov or by calling 1-866-COVERTN.
