Fort Loudoun State Historic Park Announces Living History Weekend

Vonore, Tenn. – Fort Loudoun State Historic Park will host an 18th century Living History Weekend August 11-12, 2007. The festival will run from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. It is free and open to the public.

Fort Loudoun’s Living History Weekend will feature costumed re-enactors demonstrating 18th century life such as military style musket demonstrations, cannon firings, medical re-enactments in the fort’s infirmary, as well as a blacksmith, laundresses, a Cherokee trader and cooking demonstrations.

Sunday’s program will feature an 18th century church service beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Fort Loudoun State Historic Park is a reconstruction of a British fort on the site of one of the earliest British fortifications on the western frontier, built in 1756. In addition to the fort area, the park features a museum, boating, fishing, hiking and picnic facilities on Tellico Lake.
