Bledsoe Creek State Park Renovations Nearing Completion

Nashville, Tenn. – Bledsoe Creek State Park is wrapping up a waterline replacement and renovations, and parking will once again be available inside the park beginning Friday, August 31, 2007.  Park trails remained open when renovations began in March, but construction required visitors to limit parking to the park office.

“I know construction projects at Bledsoe Creek have been an inconvenience for park visitors for several months,” said park manager Wayne Bomar.  “But we hope visitors will find the new and improved amenities at the park to be worth the wait.”

Upgrades at Bledsoe Creek State Park include a new waterline system and new bathhouse, as well as new decking at the boat launch and fishing piers and new signage throughout the park.  In addition to the new bathhouse, campers will also find the existing bathhouses have been painted, and new cooking grills and fire-rings have been installed at each campsite.  Individual water service has also been installed at each campsite, and the waterline replacement allowed for the installation of two fire hydrants in the event of emergency.

In addition to the campsite upgrades, all concrete picnic tables at the park have been pressure washed and trail mulch has been added to approximately two miles of Bledsoe Creek’s trail system.  New mulch has been added to the playground as well, and the park’s volleyball court has been reworked.

Representative Mike McDonald and Senator Diane Black support the park and the surrounding community in the General Assembly.

“I know there may have been some growing pains as the work was being completed,” said McDonald.  “But I’m pleased visitors to Bledsoe Creek State Park will have upgraded facilities to enjoy for years to come.”

“Park staff and the Friends of Bledsoe Creek have worked very hard to upgrade the park facilities and trail system for the comfort and convenience of our visitors,” Bomar said.

Located off Highway 25 in Sumner County, this 164-acre park is situated on the Bledsoe Creek embayment of the U.S. Corps of Engineers Old Hickory Reservoir near the old 1780s settlement of Cairo.  For more information about the park and its activities, visit the Web site at www.tnstateparks.com/bledsoecreek or call 615-452-3706.
