Center Hill Dam Public Meeting

(NASHVILLE, TENN., Jan. 9, 2008) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Nashville District, will co-host a Center Hill Dam public meeting with emergency management personnel in Sumner County. Communities in the area, including Gallatin, Hendersonville, and Goodlettsville, are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will be held Thursday, January 17, at the College Heights Baptist Church, 2100 Nashville Pike, Gallatin, Tenn. Representatives of the Corps will be available to assist with inundation maps of the local area beginning at 4:30 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Corps officials will present a briefing, focusing on seepage problems, risk reduction measures, planning and construction efforts for a long-term fix, and emergency preparedness for downstream residents. Officials will try to answer the questions of residents concerning the seepage and repairs, the Center Hill Dam Consensus Report External Peer Review and the Final Environmental Impact Statement on lake level operation. State and local emergency management personnel will also be available for questions regarding emergency planning in these communities.
