Rutherford Countian New Head of National Guard Family Programs

 NASHVILLE -- Lt. Col. Joe Hollister, of Murfreesboro, has recently been assigned as Director of Family Programs for the Tennessee National Guard.

 In his new position Hollister oversees a 25-member team of personnel assisting families of deployed Army and Air National Guardsmen. He will also serve as advisor to the hundreds of Family Readiness Group volunteers across the length and breadth of Tennessee.
 
Lt. Col Hollister remains in his military assignment as commander of the 2nd Battalion (Armor), 117th Regional Training Institutein Smyrna.
 
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, he began his 23 years of commissioned service in 1985 with the Reserve Officer Training Corps at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City. His many military assignments include deployment in 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
 
In addition to an extensive military education, Lt. Col. Hollister earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice at East Tennessee State University. He will graduate this year with a Master of Science in Homeland Security from the American Military University.
 
Hollister is the recipient of many awards, decorations, service medals and badges, and is a member of numerous professional organizations.
 
He and his wife, Gail, reside in Murfreesboro with their two sons, Bennett and Jonah.
