BOPP Relocates Jackson Office

NASHVILLE --- The Board of Probation and Parole has moved its Jackson office from downtown to a more convenient location. The new office is at 1661 Hollywood Drive, near the Highway 45 bypass.  The agency is having an open house this afternoon from 2:00-4:00 to introduce the community to the new facility.

Executive Director Bo Irvin said, “We have been working on this project for some time, and are glad to see it completed. This is a vast improvement over our old office, where our staff was split between the first and fourth floors of the building.” 

BOPP had more than 14,000 square feet in its old Jackson location. This office is actually smaller, at just 11,223 square feet. But because the space is planned for efficiency, it seems larger. 

District Director Mike Cole said, “There are other advantages to this location too. The most important change is getting our staff all on one level. By doing that, we have much better communication between officers and supervisors.” Cole said there is also space for fingerprinting, staff training and classes for offenders. The design of the facility also provides enhanced security, and the location has better parking facilities.

The Board of Probation and Parole (www.tn.gov/bopp) is an independent, seven member board whose members are appointed by the Governor.  The Board is charged with the responsibility of deciding which eligible felony offenders will be granted parole and released from incarceration to community-based supervision.  Along with the supervision of those granted parole, the Board is also responsibile for supervising felony offenders who are placed on probation by criminal courts.
