Frozen Head State Park Bridge to be Renovated

Sunday, February 24, 2008 | 06:00pm

Wartburg, Tenn. – Frozen Head State Park and the Tennessee Department of Transportation announced that renovation will begin Feb. 25 on Judge Branch Bridge, which is inside the park on Flat Fork Road. TDOT will be doing the bridge construction.  It is expected to take up to one month to complete.

During the renovation process, visitors may park at the Visitor Center to access trails and backpacking.  Restroom facilities are also available at the Visitor Center.  The campground, picnic shelters and restrooms beyond the bridge will be inaccessible to park visitors until the renovation is complete and the bridge is reopened.

“While we regret the inconvenience to our park visitors, the bridge renovation will benefit park users in the long run and we appreciate people’s patience while the work is being done,” said park manager David Engebretson.

For additional information or updates on the bridge renovation project, please call the park office at (423) 346-3318.
