TDOT Breaks Ground on State Route 141 (Hartsville Pike) Improvement Project

NASHVILLE - Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely joined state and local officials in Wilson County today to break ground on a new State Route 141 improvement project. The project is three miles in length and stretches from south of Spring Creek to Tomlinson Place in Lebanon. Once finished, the project will provide a number of improvements to this busy stretch of roadway.

"State Route 141 is one of Wilson County's most heavily traveled routes and is a vital link to counties to the north like Trousdale and Macon," said Commissioner Nicely. "This project will help alleviate some of the congestion in the area and will also greatly improve the safety on this busy highway."

 

Representative Stratton Bone, who was instrumental in the development of this project, joined Commissioner Nicely at today's groundbreaking.

 

"This is an important investment in Wilson County's transportation system and its economic future," said Representative Bone. "We look forward to the completion of this project and will also continue working with TDOT on future improvements to SR 141."

 

The $10 million project includes widening the roadway to add twelve foot shoulders. It will also address safety issues along this stretch of road, including the straightening of several sharp curves. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained throughout construction on the project. The improvements are scheduled to be complete by the fall of 2010.

 

A future project will widen SR 141 from Tomlinson Place to the Trousdale County line. There are several other improvement projects to the route in Wilson and Trousdale Counties in various stages of the development process.

 

Senator Mae Beavers, who also represents Wilson County in the Tennessee General Assembly, was a supporter of this project as well.
