New McMinn County Driver Service Center to Open

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Department of Safety (TDOS) is opening a new Driver Service Center in Athens, Tennessee, and closing the one currently located at 1865 Highway 30-E.  The new facility will be located at 500 Congress Parkway, Athens, Tennessee.

The current McMinn County Driver Service Center will be closed on Monday, January 12, 2009, and Tuesday, January 13, 2009. The move gives TDOS the opportunity to move into a larger space that will allow us to serve our customers more efficiently.
 
The new center will open for business on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, at 8:00 a.m. (EST).  Normal hours of business will continue to be Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. On the second Wednesday of each month, the facility opens one hour late for a monthly staff meeting. Customers may also utilize the full-service Driver Service Centers in Bradley and Roane counties.
 
Directions to the Bradley County Service Center located at 301 James Asbury Drive NW, Cleveland, TN:
·         Take I-75 South to exit 27.
·         Turn right onto Paul Huff Parkway.
·         Turn left onto Adkisson Drive.
·         Go approximately .2 miles and turn left onto James Asbury Drive NW.
 
Directions to the Roane County Service Center located at 1070 North Gateway Avenue, Rockwood, TN:
·         Take I-75 North to exit 84B.
·         Merge onto I-40 West.
·         Take exit 347 and turn left into U.S. Highway 27 south.
·         Go approximately 5.3 miles and make a U-turn to travel north on U.S. Highway 27/North
          Gateway Avenue. Driver Service Center is approximately .1 miles on right.
 
Customers only needing a duplicate license or to renew their driver license can visit the McMinn County Clerk’s Office located at 5 South Hill Street, Suite A, Athens, Tennessee. The County Clerk’s office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Customers may also be able to renew online at www.tn.gov/safety.
