Construction Report for the Tri-Cities Area and Northeast Tennessee, October 15 - 21, 2009

Changed Conditions or New Projects:
 
Carter County, SR 400 from East Mill Street to SR 67 (Broad Street): Work on the project has started with the relocation of utilities. Motorists should be alert for men and equipment on or near the roadway.
 
Carter County, SR 143 from the North Carolina State Line to SR 37 (Resurfacing): The contractor has begun resurfacing activities on this project. Motorist should be alert for intermittent lane closures as work progresses. 
 
Carter County, SR 173 from the Unicoi County Line to SR 37 (Resurfacing): The contractor has begun resurfacing work on this route. Motorists should be alert for flaggers.
 
Johnson County, SR 34 from Triplett Road to the North Carolina State Line (Resurfacing): The contractor is resurfacing the roadway of this route and will have a lane closed during work hours. Motorists should be aware of work on the roadway. 
 
Ongoing Projects: 
 
Carter County, SR 400 (Lynn Avenue) over Watauga River (Bridge Replacement): The contractor will be working at the SR 400 and Mill Street intersection. The work will require the closure of the east side of Mill Street and temporary lane closures on SR 400 with flaggers controlling traffic.   Intermittent lane closures will be implemented in both lanes throughout the project. Motorists should be aware of construction equipment on and near the highway and workers near the roadway.
 
Washington County, I-26 Bridge over Boones Creek Road (SR 354) (Bridge Repair): The contractor is continuing this bridge repair project. This work is weekend work and will cause a reduction in lanes on SR 354 and closure of the outside shoulder on I-26 Eastbound. Work is to take place from Friday nights at 7:00 pm to Monday at 6:00 am. Motorists please use caution in this area. 
 
Sullivan County, SR 1 (US 11W) Intersection with SR 394 and Hines Road (Intersection Modification): The Contractor is continuing the traffic signal construction. Motorists may encounter temporary lane closures on SR 1 and SR 394. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area.
 
Washington County, SR 81 from Ridgecrest Road to Anderson Road (Resurfacing): The contractor plans on continuing this project this week weather permitting. Motorists are asked to use caution in this are as temporary lane closures will be required. 
 
Sullivan County, I-81 between South of Exit 63 and North of Exit 69 (Resurfacing): The contractor is continuing this resurfacing project. This work will cause temporary lane closures at night between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am Sunday through Friday. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area. 
 
Washington County, SR 400 (Watauga and Unaka Avenues) from SR 91 to Broadway (Resurfacing): The contractor is continuing milling and paving operations on this project. This work will cause a reduction from two lanes to one during work hours. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area.
 
Washington County, SR 75 from Shadden Road to Forest Drive (Resurfacing): The contractor is finishing up this project with the installation of permanent pavement markings. Motorists will encounter a temporary reduction in lanes during work hours. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area.
 
Sullivan/Hawkins Counties, Netherland Inn Road Bridge over North Fork Holston River (Bridge Replacement): The contractor is working on dressing up the project. Motorists may encounter temporary lane closures. Motorists are asked to use caution. 
 
Carter County, SR 67 between SR 159 (US 321) and Johnson County Line (Bridge Repair): The contractor has begun work on this project. The project will require one lane to be closed to traffic throughout the project duration, with a temporary traffic signal to conduct traffic flow. Due to LANE WIDTH restrictions, any vehicle wider than 11 feet will need to find an alternate route to reach their destination. Motorists should expect traffic delays due to the lane closure and allow extra time for travel. 
 
Washington County, SR 91 (Market and Main Streets) from Legion Street to SR 34 (Market Street)(Resurfacing): The Contractor is finishing up this project with the installation of permanent pavement markings. Motorists will encounter a temporary reduction in lanes during work hours. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area.
 
Washington County, SR 107 from Greene County Line to SR 81 (Resurfacing): The contractor is installing guardrail and permanent pavement markings on this project. Motorists will encounter temporary lane closures as work continues. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area.
 
Washington County, Bob Davis Road and Sid Martin Road (Bridge Replacement): The contractor has closed both Sid Martin Road and Bob Davis Road for the construction of a new bridge on Bob Davis Road. These roads will be closed for the duration of this project which has an estimated completion date of April 30, 2010. Motorists are asked to use caution in this area and to follow the Detour Signs that have been placed. 
 
Sullivan County, SR 75 between Washington County Line and Herron Drive (Bridge Replacement): The contractor is continuing grading and bridge operations. Motorists are asked to use caution and watch for equipment and workers at or near the roadway.

Johnson County, SR 34, Small Drainage Structure Replacement near Corner Lane: The contractor will be mobilizing equipment on project for replacement of a drainage structure. Utility relocations will precede actual construction. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment in the roadway area.
 

Unicoi County, SR 395, Small Drainage Structure Replacement near Honey Wilson Lane: The contractor will be mobilizing equipment on project for replacement of a drainage structure. Utility relocations will precede actual construction. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment in the roadway area.
