Tennessee Names Top Principal, Supervisor of the Year
NASHVILLE – Janice Womble, currently principal of Deery Eakin Primary School in Bedford County, has been named Tennessee’s 2009-10 Principal of the Year. Connie Campbell, Director of Assessment and Curriculum Grades 6-12 for Jefferson County Schools, was awarded the honor of 2009-10 Tennessee Supervisor of the Year. Both administrators were recognized at an award ceremony Monday night, during which the grand division winners were also announced.
“I want to congratulate these administrators on their dedication to students and the continued improvement of education in our state,” Education Commissioner Timothy Webb said. “Great leaders take risks and achieve great gains by doing so. Thank you to Ms. Womble and Ms. Campbell for your commitment to our students.”

The Supervisor of the Year and Principal of the Year programs are sponsored by Education Networks of America (ENA). Each POY and SOY finalist receives $500. Grand division winners receive an additional $500 and the state winners receive an additional $500. All awards are provided by ENA at an awards banquet during the 2009 Tennessee Educational LEADership conference.
