Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners Suspends License of Physician

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners has suspended the license of Larry E. Perry, MD. The suspension of Perry’s license was effective November 3, 2009. As a result of the summary suspension, Perry is immediately prohibited from practicing medicine in the state.

Perry’s license was suspended for the following:
• having sex and inappropriate contact with patients;
• prescribing controlled substances to a patient in exchange for a sex act; and
• conduct that is detrimental to the health, safety and welfare of the public.

Perry has the opportunity to appear at an informal hearing on this matter before the Board of Medical Examiners, scheduled for November 9, 2009 at 4 p.m. CT. At that hearing, the board will determine whether the public health, safety or welfare imperatively required emergency action and whether Perry’s license should remain suspended pending the outcome of a contested case proceeding in the matter. The meeting will be canceled if Perry declines participation.

Perry was originally licensed to practice medicine in Tennessee in 1991. Addresses provided to the board for Perry include Oneida, Tenn., and Whitley City, Ky.
