East Tennessee Construction Report for December 3 - 9, 2009

COCKE COUNTY, I-40 East near the North Carolina State Line: I-40 East remains closed near the North Carolina state line due to a rockslide approximately three miles inside North Carolina. I-40 East is closed just east of the Waterville Exit (Exit 451). I-40 thru traffic should follow I-81 North (Exit 421) to I-26 East (Exit 57A) towards Asheville, however, all exits on I-40 in Tennessee are open and accessible.

KNOX COUNTY, Eastbound I-640 East of Broadway: On Monday, December 7, 2009 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., motorists should be alert for a lane closure of the inside lane of I-640 Eastbound as crews perform maintenance repairs.  Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, reduced speed limit and use extreme caution through this area.
 
KNOX COUNTY, SR 131 (Lovell Road) Ramp to Southbound SR 162 (Pellissippi Parkway): The ramp from Lovell Road (SR 131) to Southbound Pellissippi Parkway (SR 162) is closed for construction until late Spring 2010. Motorists wishing to access Southbound Pellissippi Parkway (SR 162) should follow signed detour to Murdock Drive/Dutchtown Road back to Pellissippi Parkway. Motorists in this area wishing to access I-40 should follow Lovell Road to the I-40 interchange. Motorists should be alert for changed conditions in this area.

KNOX COUNTY, Southbound SR 162 (Pellissippi Parkway) approaching Lovell Road (SR 162): Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, reduced speed limit, workers present and use extreme caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 1 Kingston Pike over Norfolk Southern Railroad at Forrest Park Blvd: On Sunday night, December 6, 2009 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, motorists should be aware of lane closures as crews shift traffic lanes.   Kingston Pike is reduced to one lane in each direction around the clock for bridge repairs. Motorists should be alert for flag persons directing traffic at various times through this area. North Forest Park Blvd. is closed at the intersection with Kingston Pike and motorists should use Newcom Avenue for access. Motorists should use extreme caution when traveling through this area. 

KNOX COUNTY, Campbell Station Road between I-40 and Kingston Pike (SR 1): (Recovery Act Project) Motorists should be alert for construction activities and workers present through this widening project. Motorists should be alert for new traffic patterns, lane shifts and use caution through this area.

KNOX COUNTY, SR 131 Lovell Road between Gilbert Drive and Pellissippi Parkway: Motorists should be alert for workers present and flag persons directing traffic at various times through this project.
 
ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 61 Bridge over Poplar Creek in Oliver Springs: (Recovery Act Project) Motorists should be alert for temporary lane closures through this bridge widening project. Motorists should use caution through this area.

BLOUNT COUNTY, SR 335 Hunt Road at US 129 Alcoa Hwy: Motorist should be alert for possible lane closures, with flag persons directing traffic, thru this area on Monday nights thru Thursday nights between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. the following morning.   Motorist should be alert for workers present and use extreme caution thru this intersection improvement project.

CLAIBORNE & GRAINGER COUNTIES, US 25E (SR 32): Motorists should be alert for possible blasting operations occurring weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. This work will result in traffic stops during blasting operations and for cleanup afterwards. Motorists should expect potential long delays through this area. Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, flaggers, narrow lanes, possible falling rock, and use extreme caution through this area. WIDE LOADS OVER 12 FEET ARE NOT PERMITTED THROUGH THIS PROJECT.
 
GREENE COUNTY, I-81 Southbound at Mile Marker 19.60: On Monday night, December 7, 2009 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, motorists should be alert for workers present and lane closures as crews repair guardrail and use extreme caution through this area. 
 
JEFFERSON COUNTY, I-81 Southbound near Mile Markers 5.00: On Monday night, December 7, 2009 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, motorists should be alert for workers present and lane closures as crews repair guardrail and use extreme caution through this area. 
 
LOUDON COUNTY, I-75 Southbound between Mile Markers 74.30 and 83.20:  On Tuesday night, December 8, 2009 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, motorists should be alert for workers present and lane closures as crews repair guardrail and use extreme caution through this area. 
 
MONROE COUNTY, Griffith Branch Road over Notchy Creek: (Recovery Act Project) Griffith Branch Road is closed to thru traffic and motorists should follow signed detour route.
 
MORGAN COUNTY, SR 62 between SR 29/US 27 and Petit Lane: Motorists should use caution traveling through this area and be alert for changed conditions. Motorists should be alert for flag persons directing traffic at various times through this widening project. Motorists should be alert for new lane shifts through this area.

ROANE / ANDERSON COUNTY, SR 95 between Westover Drive and SR 62 Illinois Avenue: State Route 95 is reduced to one lane in each direction through this widening project. Motorists should be alert for workers present, changed conditions and use caution through this area.
 
ROANE COUNTY, I-40 Eastbound and Westbound between Mile Markers 341.40 and 361.70: On Tuesday night, December 8, 2009 between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning, motorists should be alert for workers present and lane closures as crews repair guardrail and use extreme caution through this area. 
 
SEVIER COUNTY, SR 66 in Sevierville between SR 338 (Boyds Creek) and Nichols St: (Recovery Act Project) Motorists should be alert for lane shifts, narrowed lanes, and workers present throughout this widening project. Short duration traffic stops in both directions may occur daily through this project for blasting. Motorists should expect potential delays and use extreme caution traveling through this area.
 
SEVIER COUNTY, LeConte St. over West Prong of the Little Pigeon River in Gatlinburg: (Recovery Act Project) LeConte Street has been reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal. Motorists should use extreme caution in this area.
 
SEVIER COUNTY, Roaring Fork Extension Rd. over Roaring Fork Creek in Gatlinburg: (Recovery Act Project) Motorists should be alert for construction and temporary detours in this area.

UNION COUNTY, SR 33 Bridge over Clinch River (Norris Lake): Motorists should be alert for workers present as crews mobilizing equipment to begin bridge construction. Motorists should reduce speeds and use extreme caution through this area.

UNION COUNTY, SR 33 between South of SR 144 (Hickory Star Rd.) and SR 61 East: Motorists should be alert for crews installing construction signs, mobilizing equipment and use caution through this widening project.

UNION COUNTY, Sharps Chapel Road between Lambdin Ridge Rd. and Brewer Hollow Rd.:  Motorist should be alert for flag persons directing traffic between Lambdin Ridge Rd. and Brewer Hollow Rd. at various times thru this bridge replacement project.
