NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Commission will hold its scheduled monthly meeting, Feb. 18-19. The session will be held at the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Region II Ray Bell Building.

Committee meetings will be held Feb. 18 beginning at 1 p.m. The TWRC regular meeting starts at 9 a.m. on Feb. 19.

The TWRC’s search committee will present its finalists for the executive director’s position of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency to the full commission. The TWRC is looking to fill the spot that will be vacated by Gary Myers, who is retiring effective March 1. The full commission will vote to determine Myers’ replacement.

In addition, the TWRC will elect its officers for the coming year. The commissioners whose terms expire this year will also be recognized during the meeting.

Other items on this month’s agenda include a report on the 2008-09 deer season by Daryl Ratajczak, TWRA Big Game Coordinator. Additionally, Tennessee’s first elk hunt is scheduled for October 2009 and TWRA Wildlife Division Chief Greg Wathen will discuss elk permit legislation.

Improvements have been made at TWRA fish hatcheries in recent years. Fisheries Division Assistant Chief Bobby Wilson will present an overview of earlier projects that secured water supplies, restored buildings, and improved fish production. Frank Fiss, also of the Fisheries Division, will review 2008 accomplishments in detail with information on expenditures and impacts to production.

The public is invited to attend the meetings in the conference room of the Ray Bell Building. The TWRC serves as the governing body of the TWRA.
