CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Transportation is warning drivers to expect delays along heavily traveled US-27 in Hamilton County for the next several weeks as crews begin repairs to 15 bridges located between I-24 and the Olgiati Bridge.

Any multi-lane bridges will be reduced to two lanes in each direction for the duration of the project. Meanwhile, repairs to any two-lane bridges will be done at night only, between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., because the bridges will have to be reduced to one lane in each direction.

TDOT will place several portable message boards placed near the project area. Drivers are strongly encouraged to seek an alternate route around this work zone. The work is scheduled to be completed by September 30, 2009.

Motorists traveling through this area are advised to use caution and be alert for changing conditions. For current travel conditions motorists are encouraged to call 511 from any land line or cell phone, or you may visit www.TN511.com
