COLUMBIA - Columbia, Tenn. makes an on-screen appearance this Friday when Disney's "Hannah Montana The Movie" hits theaters nationwide. The movie was filmed largely in and around Columbia, which is a Tennessee Main Street Community.

Production of the film, which lasted 142 days, was an economic development shot in the arm for the area. While the number of dollars spent in Tennessee for the movie is still being determined, more than 210 jobs were created for Tennessee residents, including both production and acting positions.

The Tennessee Film Commission, a partner with ECD, worked closely with Disney throughout the location selection and production process. Part of the Commission's aim is to promote and facilitate economic development of the film and music community through the recruitment of business and promotion of Tennessee as a location for feature films, television productions, commercials and other works.
