TWRA Announces Memorial Day Holiday Boating Report

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) announced that there were no boating-related fatalities over the 2009 Memorial Day holiday weekend which extended from 6 p.m., May 22 through May 25.

There were seven total accidents reported over the period across the state. Three injuries were recorded as a result of separate accidents. TWRA officers made 24 boating under the influence (BUI) arrests over the weekend.
 
The 2008 Memorial Day holiday weekend saw 13 reported accidents with one fatality and four injuries. Officers arrested 26 for BUI during the same period a year ago.
