Homeland Security Expo Showcases Middle Tennessee Disaster Response Capabilities

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Office of Homeland Security (OHS) in conjunction with the City of Lebanon invites the public to an Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Expo to see firsthand how the emergency response agencies have strengthened their abilities to protect the Middle Tennessee region. State-of-the-art public safety equipment and live emergency response demonstrations will highlight the seven-county Nashville UASI/Homeland Security District 5 region’s multi-discipline approach to public safety. The Nashville UASI/Homeland Security District 5 is comprised of Cannon, Davidson, Rutherford, Sumner, Trousdale, Williamson and Wilson counties.

UASI Expo attendees have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with representatives from emergency response agencies, learn about new public safety technologies and see live demonstrations. The Tennessee Highway Patrol’s Special Operations team will perform an aerial rescue demonstration at noon, while public safety equipment, including mobile command posts, decontamination units, disaster medical trailers, bomb detection units and communications trailers, will be on display throughout the day.   
 

The Tennessee Department of Safety’s mission is (www.TN.gov/safety) to ensure the safety and general welfare of the public. The department encompasses the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Office of Homeland Security and Driver License Services. General areas of responsibility include law enforcement, safety education, motorist services and terrorism prevention.
