TDOC Stops Flow of Drugs

NASHVILLE - Officers at the Charles Bass Correctional Complex have stopped a major flow of drugs from reaching the streets.  During a routine vehicle search at the facility on June 20, officers discovered a large amount of drugs, weapons and cash in the possession of visitor Gary Carringer, 50, of Jacksboro, Tennessee.

Carringer was at the prison to visit an inmate.  While searching Carringer's vehicle, officers found 4 knives, various prescription painkillers, marijuana, methamphetamine, alcohol and more than fourteen-hundred dollars in cash.

He was arrested by TDOC Internal Affairs agents and has been charged with introduction of contraband into a penal facility and possession with intent to distribute.  Carringer was transported to the Metro Nashville Jail.  His bond was set at $75,000.
