NASHVILLE --- Free Fishing Day in Tennessee is Saturday, June 6 when anyone in the state may fish without a license.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency provides the free day in hopes of increasing interest in fishing. The day allows anyone the opportunity to try this great outdoor sport, especially children. In addition, children ages 13-15 may fish without a license from Saturday through the following Friday (June 12).

Along with the opportunity to fish free and participate in Tennessee’s most popular form of outdoor recreation, many special events are slated throughout the state. The TWRA is providing a total of 36,600 pounds of catfish for the various events. The fish range from 1 1/4-1 1/2 pounds in weight to 14-16 inches in length. For a list of the events, visit the For Anglers section on the TWRA Web site.
