Tuesday, August 04, 2009 | 03:21am

NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency’s Nature @ Noontime program will feature the “Tornado Climatology of Middle Tennessee” at its upcoming August session to be held Thursday (Aug. 6) from 12-1 p.m. in the TWRA Region II Conference Room at the Ellington Agricultural Center.

Mark Rose, meteorologist since 1994 with the National Weather Service and stationed in Old Hickory, will be the guest for the August meeting. Focusing on Middle Tennessee, Rose will share the scientific findings regarding tornadoes derived from long term studies of our state’s weather conditions and also answer questions from the audience.

Striking any time of the day or night, tornadoes have ripped devastating paths through many parts of Tennessee, both historically and even as recent as a few months ago. In Tennessee since 1833, when the first tornado was recorded, there have been about 400 people killed by tornadoes and over 3,000 injured.

Hosted by the ITWRA I&E Division and held on the first Thursday of each month, except July, Nature @ Noontime presentations are about natural resource related topics and last about 30-45 minutes, allowing time for discussion during the allotted lunch hour. If you would like to make a presentation, if you have topics of personal interest you would like TWRA to address, or know someone who offers an interesting program, contact Patricia Miller (615-781-5276) or by e-mail: Patricia.Miller@state.tn.us.
