Due Process Letter Served

NASHVILLE--- Today, Department of Safety Commissioner Dave Mitchell terminated THP Sergeant Chris Curry following his arrest while off-duty for DUI, Tuesday, September 1, 2009, by the White House Police Department.  Curry has been on personal leave since August 10, 2009, and has not reported to duty. 

Effective September 1, 2009, Sgt. Curry was placed on administrative leave and served a “minimum due process letter of termination” for conduct unbecoming.

Prior to his arrest, Tuesday, September 1, 2009, for DUI, Curry had already been the subject of an internal investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) for an off-duty incident that occurred August 22, 2009 in White House that was also investigated by White House Police. No charges were filed in that incident.
 
Curry, 45, was commissioned in 1986 with the Public Service Commission (PSC) and promoted to Sergeant with the PSC in May of 1995. Curry was commissioned with the THP in July of 1996 when PSC employees merged into the Department of Safety Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.  Prior to going on leave August 10th, Curry had been assigned to the Robertson County Scales.
