WHAT:  The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and Tennessee Department of Transportation will host a Grand Opening and Media Event at Tennessee’s newly completed I-75 Welcome Center in Jellico.

WHEN: Monday, September 28 at 1 p.m. EDT.

WHY: Tourism Commissioner Susan Whitaker and TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely will be on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Welcome Center.  Designed as a log cabin and featuring 4,976 square feet, the facility combines the warmth of Tennessee with the modern advantage of new construction. There are thirteen Welcome Centers located primarily on interstate highway entrances to Tennessee.

SPECIAL NOTE:  A shuttle will be provided at the Jellico exit, #160 to transport guests to the event. Please come to the Crouches Creek Baptist Church parking lot (1518 5th Street, Jellico, TN 37762) to board the shuttle which will run continuously beginning at 10 a.m. Driving to the Welcome Center entrance and parking lot requires an 11 mile drive north, past the Welcome Center, exiting at the first exit in KY and driving 11 miles back south to mile marker 161 and the Welcome Center entrance. Riding the shuttle will eliminate the need for this additional 22 mile drive.
