Work is now complete.

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation crews will close the Interstate 40 Eastbound off-ramp at White Bridge Road (Exit #204) for the majority of this weekend. The closure is necessary for the installation of bridge beams for the I-40/White Bridge Interchange Modification project. The closure periods are as follows:

      Saturday January 23 and Sunday January 24, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
      Monday January 25, 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Tuesday January 26

Crews will use cranes to lift 10 steel bridge beams, each weighing up to 60,000 pounds, across the ramp and onto two large piers located on either side of the exit ramp. In order to ensure motorist safety during the operation, no traffic can be allowed on the exit ramp until the beams are safely secured.

During the closure, motorists wishing to access White Bridge Road or Briley Parkway will need to exit at 51st Avenue (Exit #205), located a quarter mile east of White Bridge Road. Detour signs will be posted to direct motorists back to White Bridge Road & Briley Parkway. TDOT will also use overhead and portable message boards along I-40 East to alert motorists of the closure. In addition, information on the closures will be broadcast on the TDOT SmartWay Highway Advisory Radio station (1680 AM) and on 511.
