First Maury County Small Game Scramble Set Feb. 20 for First 50 Youth Ages 9-15 to Register

COLUMBIA --- The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will host its first Maury County Young Sportsmen’s Small Game Scramble on Saturday, Feb. 20.
 
The hunt will begin and end at the Yanahli Wildlife Management Area shop located at 1026 Old Lewisburg Highway in Columbia. Registration and breakfast will start the day between 6-7 a.m.
 
The small game scramble, which local wildlife officers plan to make an annual event, has a limit of 50 hunters between 9-15 years of age. Participants must be hunter education certified and the TWRA will accept applicants on a first-come, first-served basis. Proper licenses will be required and participants must also provide their own firearm and ammunition.
 
Parents are welcome to accompany their child, and applicants are welcome from areas outside of Maury County.
 
After breakfast, hunters will proceed to various locations that include Williamsport and Yanahli WMAs. 
 
Participants will be provided with a safety officer or adult guide, according to the TWRA. The hunt will end at 11 a.m. with lunch, trap shooting, and prizes.
