Steve Elkins, Legal Counsel to Governor, Announces Plans to Leave Bredesen Administration

NASHVILLE – Governor Phil Bredesen announced that Steve Elkins, Legal Counsel to the Governor and a member of Bredesen’s Cabinet, is leaving the administration to join the private sector. Elkins has served as the Governor’s legal counsel since December 2006. Elkins was a member of Bredesen’s campaign staff and transition team before joining the administration as Deputy Legal Counsel in January 2003.
Statement from Steve Elkins:
“It has been an honor to serve Governor Bredesen and the state of Tennessee for nearly eight years. I have been privileged to help Governor Bredesen and his administration develop and implement his agenda, and I am confident that Tennesseans will continue to benefit from his legacy of accomplishment in the years ahead.
“On a personal level, I feel fortunate to have served alongside a group of dedicated people committed to improving the lives of Tennesseans, and am fortunate to have served a leader of unquestioned integrity and character. I am humbled by the confidence Governor Bredesen has placed in me.”
