Morgan County Health Department Receives $150,000 in Federal WIC Funds
NASHVILLE − Tennessee Health Commissioner Susan R. Cooper, MSN, RN, will join other state and local officials on Tuesday, October 26th, to present $150,000 in federal funding from the United States Department of Agriculture for the Women, Infants and Children Special Supplemental Nutrition Program to the Morgan County Health Department.
The funding will be used for renovations to the Morgan County Health Department in Wartburg to improve services to WIC clients. The Morgan County Health Department has provided services to more than 900 WIC participants over the past year, which resulted in almost $250,000 in vouchers redeemed in the county.
The renovations will include construction of a 700 square foot addition to the health department facility. In addition to improving delivery of WIC services, the addition will allow better access to a variety of health department services by WIC clients.
