TDOC Women's Prison Joins Fight Against Breast Cancer

Wednesday, October 27, 2010 | 06:31am

NASHVILLE - A group of inmates at the Tennessee Prison for Women is lending a hand in the fight against breast cancer.  More than 260 inmates along with prison staff and volunteers will take part in a 5K walk to help raise money for the American Cancer Society.  The event, at the prison track, will coincide with the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk this Saturday at LP Field.

"This is one event the inmates look forward to supporting," said Warden Jewel Steele.  "They want to do their part to help find a cure for this disease while honoring their family members, friends and other cancer survivors."  The Tennessee Prison for Women team, called the Pink Ladybugs, has already surpassed its goal of raising $2,500 for the American Cancer Society.
