Interstate 24 near Downtown Nashville Reduced to One Lane for Nighttime Bridge Repair

NASHVILLE – Tennessee Department of Transportation crews will close lanes on Interstate 24 West near downtown Nashville to perform repairs on two bridges beginning Wednesday, October 6. I-24 West from mile marker 48.8 (Woodland Street) to mile marker 47.6 (Spring Street) will be reduced to one lane beginning at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6 through 5:00 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010.  The same closures will be in place Thursday night through Friday morning if crews are unable to complete the repairs tonight.

During the lane closures, TDOT’s Bridge Repair workers will remove and replace deteriorated concrete from the bridges that cross over Woodland Street and Spring Street. Once the new concrete is poured, it must harden for a period of several hours.

 

TDOT will use overhead and portable message boards to alert motorists of the lane closures.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and avoid the area if at all possible. Law enforcement officers will be on site in the work zone to provide traffic control as the work is being completed. TDOT also asks drivers to use caution, reduce their speed and be alert to changing traffic conditions in work zones across the state.
