TDOT closes Davenport Road SE to prepare for Henley Bridge Closure

Monday, November 01, 2010 | 10:17am
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-  Motorists need to be aware of the closure of a section of Davenport Road SE that runs parallel with James White Parkway. The road officially closed at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon and will be closed for the duration of the Henley Bridge project which is estimated to be completed on June 30, 2013. Traffic will be detoured to East Moody Avenue.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation closed Davenport Road SE to allow the crews to begin work to widen the southbound ramp of James White Parkway which is being modified to accommodate more traffic during the closure of the Henley Bridge which is scheduled to begin January 3, 2011. The closure of Davenport Road SE will also eliminate merging traffic with motorists coming off the southbound James White Parkway ramp.

To find out more about the Henley Bridge project you can go to www.tn.gov/henley or follow the project on twitter at www.twitter.com/HenleyBridge. The Henley Bridge Community Center at 220 East Blount Avenue is also the project office for inspectors, consultants and TDOT staff involved with the project. Visitors can get information about the Henley Bridge Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. by coming to the center or calling (865) 577-6988.
