Bedford County Health Department Receives $25,000 in Federal WIC Funds
SHELBYVILLE − Tennessee Department of Health Assistant Commissioner Cathy Taylor, DrPH, MSN, RN, will join other state and local officials on Friday, November 12, to present $25,000 in federal funding from the United States Department of Agriculture for the Women, Infants and Children Special Supplemental Nutrition Program to the Bedford County Health Department.
The funding will be used for renovations at the Bedford County Health Department clinic in Shelbyville to improve services to WIC clients. The Bedford County WIC clinic has served nearly 3,000 patients during the past year, resulting in more than $1.1 million in vouchers redeemed in the county. In addition to improving delivery of WIC services, the renovations will allow better access to a variety of health department services by WIC clients.
