NASHVILLE – Work continues to progress on the state’s second largest Recovery Act funded project on I-40 at White Bridge Road in west Nashville. For several nights this week, contract crews will close lanes on Interstate 40 in both directions for demolition of the White Bridge Road overpass. The closures are as follows:
  • Wednesday December 1 through Friday December 3, 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. (EACH NIGHT) – The outside and middle lanes of I-40 West will be closed at White Bridge Road. One lane will remain open in each direction.
  • Wednesday December 1 through Friday December 3, 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. (EACH NIGHT) – The inside lane of I-40 East will be closed. Two lanes will remain open.
Lane closures will also be required this weekend as crews prepare to open the new I-40 East off-ramp to White Bridge Road.
  • Saturday December 4, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. – The outside lane of I-40 East will be closed to stripe off-ramp and shift traffic to the new ramp.
The lane closures are part of the Interstate 40/White Bridge Road Interchange Modification Project, which includes new flyover ramps from I-40 East to Briley Parkway North and Briley Parkway South to I-40 West, and the replacement of the White Bridge Road overpass.  The $32 million project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and is scheduled to be complete in August 2011.
